Opera UnTapped Auditions: 2026–2027 Season & Beyond

The most fun you’ll have at an audition this year, (seriously)!  

Opera UnTapped is seeking dynamic, collaborative classical singers for our 2026–2027 season and future engagements. We want to hear more than just your voice type. We want to get to know a bit about you and how you might contribute to one of our unique programs from cabaret, to folk to “Drunk Opera History”.  We welcome your voice, your expertise, and your ideas!

We present opera in unexpected places, creating performances that are welcoming, engaging, and accessible to audiences of all backgrounds. Our season includes immersive productions, outdoor performances, family programming, interdisciplinary collaborations, concerts, and community events throughout Greater Boston.

We are looking for artists who:

  • Are exceptional musicians and compelling storytellers.

  • Feel comfortable connecting directly with audiences in intimate and nontraditional settings.

  • Enjoy collaborating across artistic disciplines.

  • Bring curiosity, professionalism, and flexibility to a wide variety of performance experiences.

  • Local to New England

We welcome singers of all voice types, backgrounds,and identities. Opera UnTapped is committed to building a diverse roster of artists who reflect the communities we serve.We look forward to meeting artists who share our passion for bringing opera to new audiences and creating unforgettable musical experiences. Supporting the vibrant community of artists in our region is central to our mission. For these auditions, we are hearing singers based in Greater Boston, Central Massachusetts, and Western Massachusetts.

The deadline for submissions is August 16 at 11:59 PM. Applications will be reviewed following the deadline, and selected artists may be invited to participate in an in-person audition. Auditions will be held on the evenings of September 13 and September 22 (dates subject to change).

Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee an audition invitation, and not all applicants will be invited to audition this year.

Our artist roster is used for casting throughout the 2026–2027 season and future projects. Not all artists will be cast immediately, but submissions will be kept on file and considered as opportunities arise. Please apply using the Audition application google form. Applicants should submit via google form:

  • A current résumé

  • Headshot

  • 1-2 video recordings, at least one must be an aria or art song

  • Tell Us About You - Please submit a short video (2 minutes or less) or a brief written response sharing something special about yourself and why you are interesting in performing with Opera Untapped. This can be anything that helps us get to know you as an artist and as a person.

  • Programming Ideas - Opera Untapped creates performances that are imaginative, accessible, and designed to connect with audiences in unexpected ways. Please suggest repertoire or a performance idea inspired by one or more of the following themes:

    • Halloween

    • Family-Friendly

    • Nasty Women of Opera

    • Irreverent Opera
